Dragan Travica talks dedication and honesty

ASICS have launched their latest viral video which features Dragan Travica, world-famous Italian Volleyball player. The concept of the video is simple, the message they are sending is that all participants in sports need to make their own personal ‘Journey of Improvement’.

The video is short at only one and a half minutes, but it certainly manages to get across this message from what, from the outside and least, looks like a very run down sports arena in the city of Monza in Italy.

The action takes place when Dragan and his teammates take part in a friendly against rivals Serbia. The video starts off with a quote from the volleyball giant who is talking about the way he sees the sport, he says “I am made of honesty not excuses.” Which is very simple and to the point that does get across his attitude towards his chosen game.

This is actually the sixth episode in a series of advertisements which heavily emphasise the extreme importance of not only teamwork but also the honesty and trust that is needed to be successful not only in volleyball but also with any other close-knit team sport.

With the help of subtitles Dragan reveals his attitude when it comes to his dedication and his desire to constantly make improvements to his game. As he states “I want to improve everyday; this is the only way I can achieve my goals and do the best for my team. After every training session and match, win or lose, you need to ask yourself if you gave your best and be brutally honest with your answer. Failures are inevitable and we must learn from them, only through failure can you really understand what you need to do to improve and win.”

The video is not only available on the ASICS YouTube channel but also can be found on all of the major social networks. The company has even created a clever application for Facebook which in turn links to the company’s online training facilities known as MY ASICS which aims to be not only inspirational but fully integrated in order to assist up-and-coming sportspeople no matter what their chosen discipline.
